A Closer Look at Backup Cameras

Most cars today have some type of rearview mirror to guide you when you back up. Today, the majority of cars now offer rearview cameras to help you back up your car safely. Additionally, any car that weighs less than 10,000 lbs. must now have a rearview camera. At Braddock Motors, we want you to be safe when you are driving your car, so here are a few facts about backup (rearview) cameras.

The biggest benefit of a backup camera is helping prevent accidents when you are backing up your vehicle. A rear-facing camera expands your field of vision. For example, most rearview mirrors only let you see what is above trunk level. Rearview cameras let you see what is below trunk level.

Most of today's rear-facing cameras also help you when you are parking. Two parallel lines that appear on the display guide you in and out of parking spaces. Some cameras have a middle line to help you get perfectly centered in those spaces. Rearview cameras also help you safely back up a tow trailer.
